Hi there, we're The Wedding Nanny Co.- a boutique childcare service for your tiniest guests and wedding party members. Our company was built on love, compassion, and a whole lot of fun.
As wedding industry professionals, we've seen so many moms, dads, and other caregivers have to rush out of a ceremony with a crying infant or sit at a back table, away from the noise and lights, with an overstimulated and overtired toddler. As parents, we know first hand what it's like to miss out on milestone events for friends and family because (this we also know first hand) our kids safety and well-being comes first. Mix travel in to the wedding equation, and a lot of families are left with their babies at five hour (plus) events, without trusted care in a new place, or away from their children for extended periods of time. We knew there was a better solution to accommodate our children, friends, family, and ourselves.
With this, The Wedding Nanny Co. was born.
"Every child deserves at least one adult who is irrationally crazy about him or her."
-Urie Bronfenbrenner
As a first grade teacher for 5 years, I learned quickly that the most important part of my job was not teaching, administering tests, or going to meetings- it was loving children. After having children of my own, this lesson became even more apparent, and I fell deeply in love with being at home with my own kids. Every child deserves positive attention, affection, and opportunities to express themselves, grow, and have fun- which has always been my goal in education and as a mother.
It was an amazing thing when I learned I could apply this lesson in every day life, to things I was already doing, outside of my home. For the past 4 years I have been a wedding photographer, capturing endless memories for hundreds of families, all while still keeping my own family at the center as my why. This environment of families coming together and celebrating the start of a new family has fostered a flame for my first love, children, with my second love, weddings, bringing us where we are today.
Avery received her degree in Elementary Education (K-6) with a concentration in Child Development. She graduated from East Carolina in 2016 and taught Firsts Grade for 5 years in Johnston County, North Carolina. In prior years she was a Camp Counselor with the Town of Cary, North Carolina, soon moving to Assistant Director over their summer camps. Avery has served children in many other capacities, including church childcare, a household nanny, and more.
In effort to love every child, a portion of our bookings go to A Note In the Pocket, an organization that clothe families who are facing clothing insecurity across the triangle.
At The Wedding Nanny Co., our services are based on your needs and the best interest of your little guests. With safety and fun as our top two priorities, each collection's guidelines are based on ratios and safe play. We offer play that is developmentally appropriate for each group, even with mixed ages, including soft play, imaginative play, manipulatives, arts & crafts, reading spaces, and more.
Each collection can be personalized to fit your day, including travel, coordination of an offsite play space, extra hours, or extra hands. We love to share the fun with parents through the Band App, a communication tool with text and images.
It is our goal that all children feel included and valued- therefore, we take extra consideration for those children with special needs, neurological differences, and disabilities that make them who they are. We have nannies that are trained in special education, as well as nurses, to serve these populations so every child can have fun.
